Taylor F. Brim is a senior majoring in broadcast journalism, with a minor in English and creative writing. She is from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her studies are emphasized in reporting, but she is also passionate about public radio. She has worked previously with KSMU, Springfield’s NPR affiliate station, as news intern and reporter. Her hobbies include listening to NPR, staying up-to-date on current affairs, reading, and rooting for her favorite sports teams.
Allison Derks is a junior at Missouri State University with a major in broadcast journalism and a minor in communications. Currently, Allison is a collegiate correspondent for USA TODAY College, where she writes weekly stories for a national audience. In the past, Allison has worked as a production intern at Mediacom’s MC22. During her 9 months with the TV crew, she assisted in live and tape delay productions and was even lucky enough to work with ESPN3. Allison’s career goals include working as a producer in her hometown of Kansas City, Missouri.
Dan Dowell is a senior at Missouri State who plans to graduate in May of 2015. He enjoys watching watching sports, most importantly hockey. He works with Web Sports Radio in Springfield broadcasting club and junior hockey games. His ultimate goal is to do play-by-play or production of televised sporting events. Dan recently served as a production assistant with Ozarks News Brief, a live 10-minute webcast broadcast live from Missouri State University via Livestream.
Steven Fines is a broadcast journalism major at Missouri State University hailing from Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He served in the military and is a veteran of OIF, OEF and OND. He recently resigned his commission in the Army as a captain. His educational background includes an MPA and BA in Political Science from AMU in West Virginia.
Rachel Fuchs is a senior from St. Louis, Missouri. She is majoring in broadcast journalism and minoring in communications. She just recently finished an internship this summer with Fox 2 News in St. Louis where she created her own news packages and also helped with social media and promotions. Her dream job is to report or anchor for a station in Colorado or California.
Alan Heckler is a senior at Missouri State University majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in communications. While he plans to become a TV news reporter, producing and production also suits him as well. He has been involved with broadcasting for the past five years since his junior year of high school. Alan has interned with two radio stations, KJFF 1400 in Festus, Missouri and KFMO 1240 in Park Hills, Missouri.
Jesse Inman is a Junior at Missouri State. Inman is a native of Springfield, Mo. He recently worked as the main Sports Anchor for Ozarks News Brief, a 10-minute newscast for MSU. He is an aspiring sports broadcaster who would one day like to work as an anchor or play-by-play announcer.
Callie Rainey is an aspiring multimedia journalist. She has previously worked with Missouri State University’s award-winning newspaper, The Standard, and has interned with NBC affiliate KY3 in Springfield, Missouri. She is expected to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Human Resources/Industrial Relations in May of 2015.
Shay Stowell is a senior professional writing major who has a passion for words. She has been working with Missouri State’s Office of University Communications for a year and a half as a student writer composing news releases, shooting and editing video, and interviewing individuals for feature pieces. She enjoys exploring new writing styles and learning about the exciting advancements students and faculty alike are making at Missouri State. She looks forward to writing for ONJ and working with her peers to show viewers compelling and interesting stories.
Bailey Strohl is double majoring in broadcast journalism and Spanish. She hopes to graduate and become a multimedia journalist. After studying abroad in Spain in 2014. She realized she would like to take on another major to help her advance in her future career opportunities. After graduation, she plans to get her first job in an area of the country where she can use my knowledge of Spanish. Bailey’s ultimate career goal is to become an evening anchor or international reporter.
Chandler Tatgenhorst is a senior from Fenton, Missouri. She is majoring in broadcast journalism and minoring in criminology. Chandler had an internship with Ashely Reynolds at KY3 this past summer. There, she worked on shooting, writing, editing, and being in front of the camera. She hopes to become an investigative reporter and work all around the United States.
Taylor Vance is currently a senior at Missouri State majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in communications. She is originally from Wentzville, Missouri; a town about an hour outside of St. Louis. She has interned for the Springfield NBC affiliate, KY3, as well as the NPR affiliate, KSMU radio. On top of her internship experience, she has worked with Ozarks Public Television, the PBS affiliate, planning special events. Upon graduation in May 2015, Taylor aspires to be a reporter for a local news station.
Eli Wohlenhaus is majoring in broadcast journalism and minoring in communications. Eli writes for the school newspaper, The Standard, where he serves as the digital editor. Writing for print and managing social media accounts for this newspaper, plus focusing on his studies in broadcast, is what he says will help him accomplish his goal of becoming a sports analyst and reporter. Eli’s long-term goal is to be a play-by-play commentator for college basketball and the NFL.
